The Forester soccer teams will kick off the 10th month of the year against Lawrence University at home on Sunday.
For Lake Forest College Athletics, the final week of September will begin with Tuesday night's volleyball match against visiting Illinois Institute of Technology. The Foresters are now 7-8 on the season after defeating Robert Morris University-Springfield in three sets and Concordia University Chicago in four on Saturday. Illinois Tech is 5-10 so far this year but defeated the Foresters last season and owns a 4-2 edge in the all-time series between the two programs. The Lake Forest volleyball team will also begin Midwest Conference play at home against Knox College on Saturday. The Foresters are 24-4 all-time against the Prairie Fire but have dropped their last two meetings with Knox, which enters the week with an 8-7 record and a six-match winning streak.
The Forester men's soccer team will host Wheaton College on Wednesday. A pair of comeback victories in Iowa to open league play over the weekend improved Lake Forest's overall record to 5-3-1. Wheaton enters the week 3-5-0 but is 31-6-1 all-time against the Foresters, who they edged out 1-0 at home a season ago. Lake Forest will resume conference play against Lawrence on Sunday. The Vikings dropped their first two league games of the season and enter the week 1-7-0 overall. The Foresters are 34-13-4 all-time against Lawrence and won the last two meetings.
The Lake Forest men's tennis team will be in action for the only time in the fall at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Tournament at Kalamazoo College. A pair of Foresters will be looking to build off past success at the event, which will begin on Friday and continue throughout the weekend. Junior Trevor Allen knocked off the #23 seed two years ago and sophomore Nick Zazove won three times in the consolation bracket in 2016.
The fall portion of the Forester men's golf schedule will come to a close this Friday and Saturday at the Millikin Invitational in Decatur, Illinois. Lake Forest finished third out of 16 teams at this past weekend's Wisconsin Lutheran College Fall Invitational with sophomore Jacob Krugman tying for first place at the event. In three tournaments so far this year, the Foresters have finished ahead of a combined 49 teams and behind just 18.
At 3-0 and averaging more than 42 points and 515 yards per game, the Lake Forest College football team's 2017 season is off to a strong start. The Foresters finished with a program record 623 yards of offense in last week's 42-26 triumph at Lawrence University and will host Macalester College on Benny Watters Community Day this Saturday. Macalester is 2-1 after suffering a 26-0 loss to visiting Monmouth College last Saturday. Lake Forest posted a 35-14 victory at Macalester a year ago and is 2-0-1 all-time against the Scots.
All five Forester women's tennis players who competed at the ITA Regional Tournament and Oberlin Open in Ohio this past weekend won at least one match, including freshman Julie Lord, who knocked off the #8 seed at the ITA event. Lake Forest will put its 9-1 dual match record on the line against Illinois Institute of Technology (5-2) and Aurora University (1-8) on Sunday.
The MWC Women's Golf Championships will be played October 6-8 at Aldeen Golf Club in Rockford, Illinois. The Foresters will join several other teams in the league for the Aldeen Preview this Sunday and look to improve on a team scoring average (349.75) that is already 15 shots per round better than a year ago.
After splitting a pair of matches in Iowa last weekend, the Forester women's soccer team will not compete again until Sunday when its hosts Lawrence University. Lake Forest is 3-7-0 overall and 1-1-0 in MWC play so far this year. The Vikings enter the week 1-6-0 overall and without a win in two league contests. The Foresters own a commanding 34-6-1 advantage in the all-time series between the two programs and have won the last five meetings, including a 5-2 decision in Appleton, Wisconsin, last season.
