The Forester men's golf team climbed 11 spots in the standings on Sunday and finished tied-for-sixth at the two-day IWU Invite.
Lake Forest played Saturday's round at Ironwood Golf Course and Sunday's at Weibring Golf Club. Both courses are in Normal, Illinois.
Senior James Johnson and sophomores Max Golding and Chris Petri were Lake Forest's top individual players at the event. Their two-round scores of 151 tied them for 28th place in a field of 211 golfers. Johnson's 73 on Sunday was the team's best round of the weekend and Petri led the squad on Saturday with a 75. They combined for 16 birdies during the tournament.
Forester senior Jack Dwyer finished tied-for-58th overall with a 36-hole score of 154 and junior Ryan Higgins tied for 135th at 161.
Seniors Connor Lindley and Carlos Garcia Bodini competed ass individuals and posted scores of 157 and 166, respectively.
Lake Forest was just four shots over on the tournament's par-3s, six strokes better than any other team in the field. Four of the 19 birdies carded by the team's five-player lineup came on the par-3s.
Illinois Wesleyan University, the event's host, finished first in the team standings with a two-round score of 587, three shots better than runner-up St. John's University. Aurora University and Bethel University were tied-for-third at 592, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire placed fifth at 596, and Lake Forest tied with Pomona-Pitzer for sixth at 607. There were 37 teams at the tournament.
Lake Forest will play in the Judson Invitational at Randall Oaks Golf Club in West Dundee, Illinois, on Monday before hosting the Forester Spring Invite at White Deer Run Golf Course in Vernon Hills on Friday.
