The Lake Forest College men's golf team played 36 holes at Aurora University's Spartan Double Gun on Tuesday. The Foresters' two teams in the event placed tied-for-eighth and 16th.
Sophomore Chris Petri turned in the team's best round of the day, carding a 75 on his first 18 holes. He had two birdies and 11 pars on the 6,785-yard, par-72 Aurora Country Club course.
Senior Jack Dwyer, junior Ryan Higgins, and sophomore Luke Duffer finished the opening round with matching scores of 78 and senior Connor Lindley matched that number in round two to lead the squad.
Dwyer's 79 in the afternoon gave him a team-best 36-hole score of 157, which ranked tied-for-33rd in the 93-player field. Higgins was next at 158, followed by Petri (159) and Duffer (160).
Aurora won the event with a final score of 590, three shots clear of runner-up Hope College. Lake Forest's top team was tied with Wheaton College for eighth place at 634 while the other was 16th at 662.
The Foresters will be in action again this Friday and Saturday at the Carthage Fall Invitational. Both rounds at Randall Oaks Golf Club in West Dundee, Illinois, are scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m.
