The Forester cross country teams competed for the first time in 2022 on Friday at the Elmhurst Earlybird Invitational.
Lake Forest placed seventh in the women's team standings and eighth in the men's. Junior transfer Monika Wolska led the women with a 4-kilometer time of 17:38.7 in her Forester debut. That was good for 23rd place overall in the field of 83 runners. Sophomore Bart Brophy paced the men's team and was 73rd of 118 overall with a time of 22:39.5 on the 6-kilometer course.
The next three members of the women's team to cross the finish line were also competing for the first time as Foresters. Freshmen Jacquelyn Han and Atlas Hampton-Gregory posted times of 19:38.1 and 20:06.6, respectively, while junior Giselle Di Prizio finished in 22:01.0.
On the men's side, junior Alec Macartney completed the course in 22:50.0, just 15 seconds after Brophy, and senior Lionel Whitehead was next on the team in 23:59.2.
The North Central College men and Carthage College women placed first in the team standings.
The next event on Lake Forest's schedule is the annual Forester Invitational, which will be held next Friday at Foss Park Golf Course in nearby North Chicago.
