The Lake Forest College women's tennis team hosted and defeated Judson University 8-1 in its home opener on Saturday.
The Foresters took two of the three doubles matches with juniors Maria Jose Campos and Margaret Bugnacki blanking their opponents 8-0 at #1 and freshmen Rebecca Daskal and Maggie Fields matching that performance at #3.
Sophomore Sara Lopez earned the first point in singles with a 6-0, 7-5 victory at #4 and Bugnacki posted a 6-1, 7-6 (7-4) triumph at #2. The clinching point came from Campos, who edged out the Eagles' top player 7-5, 3-6, (10-8). Freshman Libby Moog came out on top 7-6 (7-4), 7-5 at #3, Fields did not lose a game at #6, and Daskal closed out the contest with a hard-fought 3-6, 6-3, (10-7) win at #5.
Lake Forest is now 1-2 on the season and will have an opportunity to even its record on Wednesday at Wheaton College. The match will begin at 6:00 p.m.
