Freshman Anna Gracia secured the win for the Lake Forest women's soccer team when she connected with the back of the net on a penalty kick early in the first half of play against Concordia University Chicago on Monday. The Foresters defeated the Cougars 1-0.
Gracia was awarded a penalty kick after getting tangled up with some Concordia defenders and taken to the ground as she pressed her way towards the goal.
The Foresters' offense was on the attack for most of the game; they outshot the Cougars 20-7 in all with 14 of their shots being on goal.
Senior goalkeeper Maggie Kersting made five saves for Lake Forest and earned her 12th career shut out.
The Foresters play at home again on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. against Milwaukee School of Engineering.
