The Forester women's soccer team finally allowed a goal in Midwest Conference play on Saturday and fell 1-0 at Grinnell College.
The only goal of the teams' final conference game of the season came early in the second half and resulted in Grinnell winning the league's regular season title.
Lake Forest had the statistical edge in the game, out-shooting the home team 13-10, putting four shots on goal to the Pioneers' three, creating five corner kicks while conceding three, and possessing the ball for more than 60 percent of the time.
The loss snapped the Foresters' 10-game unbeaten streak, which matched the fourth-longest run in team history. Lake Forest had shut out each of its first seven conference foes and senior goalkeeper Maggie Kersting finished the regular season with a .947 save percentage and 0.13 goals against average in league play.
Lake Forest is now 11-4-3 overall and 7-1-0 in the MWC this season. Grinnell improved to 10-2-4 and finished atop the standings at 7-0-1 in the conference.
The Foresters will return to Grinnell for the four-team MWC Tournament next weekend and take on third place Beloit College in Friday afternoon's 2:00 semifinal. The Pioneers will host fourth place Cornell College earlier in the day and the winners will face off Saturday at 2:00 p.m. with the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Tournament at stake.
