The three-round St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Golf Championship Tournament concluded on Monday and Lake Forest College finished third with the best score in team history.
Monday's round of 336 gave the Foresters' five freshmen a final 54-hole score of 997, which is 70 strokes better than the previous school record set in 2017. The best individual three-round score in team annals was also updated when Gabrielle Krebs completed the event at 238, good for sixth place in the 52-player field and eight shots clear of the previous school record set by Allie Girard in 2016. After carding an 83 in the opening round, Krebs posted a season-best 76 on Sunday and a 79 on Monday to earn First Team All-SLIAC honors. The individual champion was the only event's only competitor with more pars than Krebs' 30.
Sydney Foulon was next on the team and 13th overall at 248. After registering back-to-back 82s over the weekend, she finished Monday's round in 84 strokes. Alijah Campbell started the final round tied with Foulon and, after carding an 86, placed 15th at the event and fourth in school history at 250. Foulon and Campbell were named Second Team All-SLIAC.
The Foresters' fourth golfer in the first two rounds was Niki Datangel with scores of 89 and 85. Ashlyn Bhatia filled that role on Monday with an 87. They finished 23rd and 29th, respectively, in the tournament.
Grinnell College repeated as conference champion with a score of 911, which was 60 shots better than runner-up Illinois College.
The conference tournament was Lake Forest's final tournament of the fall semester. The team will play in five more events in the spring.
