Lake Forest in Third Place after Day One of SLIAC Championships

Lake Forest in Third Place after Day One of SLIAC Championships

The Forester women's golf team is in Springfield, Illinois, this weekend competing in the three-day 2022 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship Tournament. Lake Forest finished Saturday's opening round in third place.

Freshman Sydney Foulon led Lake Forest on Saturday with a score of 82 on the 5,602-yard, par-72 course at The Rail in Springfield, Illinois. She ranks 10th in the 53-player field while classmates Gabrielle Krebs and Alijah Campbell are tied-for-11th at 83. Just four players in the field had more than the nine pars the Foresters' top three players carded in round one. Krebs accounted for the team's only birdie of the day, needing just three shots to complete the 335-yard 13th hole.

Niki Datangel and Ashlyn Bhatia, the other two freshmen in Lake Forest's lineup, finished the opening round in 89 and 90 strokes, respectively.

Grinnell owns a commanding lead in the team standings with a day one score of 302. Illinois College is in second place at 334, three shots ahead of the Foresters and seven clear of fourth-place Spalding University.

Sunday's competition will begin at 10:00 a.m.
