Foresters Post Best Score of the Season on Day Two of SLIAC Championships

The Lake Forest College women's golf team it still in third place after day two of three at the 2022 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship Tournament.

The Foresters' score of 624 on Sunday was their lowest of the season and the second-best round in team history. Their 36-hole total of 661 is a program record for the first two days of a tournament, breaking the previous mark of 672 set in 2016.

Lake Forest's five freshmen were led in round two by Gabrielle Krebs, who carded a season-best 76 to match the fifth-lowest score in school history. She turned in a pair of birdies on Saturday and only one of the 52 players at the event has more than her 20 pars this weekend. Krebs climbed into eighth place overall with a two-day total of 159.

Sydney Foulon and Alijah Campbell are next on the team and tied-for-12th at 164 for the tournament. Foulon has posted back-to-back rounds of 82 while Campbell's 81 on Sunday was two strokes better than her opening round performance.

Rounding out the Foresters' scorers was Niki Datangel, whose 85 on day two gave her a 36-hole total of 174 and tied her for 20th place at the event.

Grinnell College lead the tournament with a two-day score of 603 and second place Illinois College is just four shots ahead of Lake Forest at 657.

Monday's final round is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m.
