The Forester handball team competed in the Maverick Open at Minnesota State University, Mankato over the weekend.
On the women's side freshman Audrey Peters posted a 21-9, 21-4 victory in the round of 16 before falling to the eventual champion in the quarterfinals.
The Forester men won a pair of divisional titles. Sophomore Zach Dybal rattled off four consecutive victories to come out on top in A Singles, winning 21-17, 21-8 in the final. Senior Collin Peters and sophomore Dylan Schmitt added a championship in Open Doubles.
Sophomore Parker McElroy nearly joined them but was edged out 21-15, 21-20 in the B Singles final.
Schmitt reached the quarterfinals in Open Singles and junior Mitch Dirnberger was a semifinalist in the B Singles division.
The team will be back in action in just five days at the Illinois Handball Association State Doubles Tournament at Schaumburg Tennis Plus in Schaumburg, Illinois.
