The Illinois Handball Singles Tournament was held in Schaumburg over the weekend and a pair of Foresters reached their respective division's championship match.
Sophomore Zach Dybal rattled off three consecutive victories to capture the championship in the Men's B Division. He prevailed 21-7, 21-8 in the quarterfinals and 21-14, 21-6 in the semifinals before taking both games 21-12 in the final.
Lake Forest also had a finalist in the Men's B/Novice Division, where Parker McElroy, another sophomore, won twice to claim runner-up honors. Junior Josh Levin also competed in that division and reached the semifinals before falling to the eventual champion.
Senior Sarah Moskow was a semifinalist in the Women's B Division after outlasting her quarterfinal opponent 21-11, 20-21, 11-7.
Senior Collin Peters and sophomore Dylan Schmitt represented the Foresters in the Men's Open Division but were eliminated in the round of 16. JUnior Mitch Dernberger suffered the same fate in the Men's B Division.
Lake Forest will host an invitational doubles event next Saturday.
