The Lake Forest College men's basketball team was defeated 93-64 by visiting Wheaton College, the 24th-ranked team in D3hoops.com's Preseason Poll, Tuesday night.
Wheaton jumped out to a large lead by connecting on 26 of 31 (83.9%) field goal attempts in the game's first 23 minutes. The visitors finished the night at 69.4 percent while Lake Forest shot just 44.4 percent. The Thunder also had a 16-3 advantage in made free throws and out-rebounded the home team 26-22.
Sophomore guard Alex Knight led Lake Forest with 16 points and three assists and tied for the team lead with six rebounds. Senior forward Frank Siegien also reached double figures with 10 points while freshman forward Noah Deitch added nine.
Lake Forest is now 1-4 and Wheaton 4-1 on the season.
The Foresters will take on another member of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Saturday when they travel to Millikin University for a 4:00 p.m. tip-off.
