The Lake Forest College women's hockey team was defeated 3-0 at Concordia University Wisconsin Saturday night, capping off a nine-day stretch that included games in four different states.
After a scoreless opening period, the Falcons took the lead at the 2:53 mark of the second. They added a power play goal at 16:30 and led 2-0 after a period to play.
The home team tacked on an additional tally at 7:14 in the third and kept the Foresters off the scoreboard.
Shot on goal on the night were nearly even with Concordia Wisconsin registering 37 and the Foresters 36.
Since Lake Forest had defeated the Falcons 5-1 on Friday, a shootout was held to decide the winner of the Border Battle, an annual competition between the two schools. Concordia Wisconsin scored twice and the Foresters once in the shootout, giving the Falcons their first victory in the event's eight years.
The Foresters are now 8-5-2 overall and 3-2-1 in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association this season. Concordia Wisconsin improved to 10-5-1 overall and 5-3-0 in the league.
Lake Forest will travel to St. Norbert College next weekend and face off with the Green Knights Friday night at 7:00 and Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
