The Northern Collegiate Hockey Association announced the 2022-23 NCHA All-Academic Teams on Thursday and Lake Forest has 34 honorees on the men's and women's teams combined.
The Forester matched the conference record they set in 2021 with 22 players on the list. That represents nearly 63 percent of the 35 players who were on the roster. The Lake Forest women also had more than half the 23-member team recognized with a dozen honorees.
To earn the award a player must be at least a sophomore with a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or better. There were 237 NCHA All-Academic Team players spread across all of the league's men's and women's teams.
Forty-two players (23 men, 19 women) in the NCHA were recognized for the third time, including Lake Forest seniors Stokli Ashcraft, Vaughan Bamford, Cagla Celik, David Cohen, Karya Dean, Scotty Nicholson, Erik Nilsson, Carson Poulin, Drew Shields, Hannah Turnage, and Nick Wiencek.
