The Lake Forest College men's lacrosse team began the season with a 19-2 victory over visiting Carroll University on Saturday.
Sophomore John Casey, who scored six times in last year's opener, repeated the feat on Saturday. He struck twice in the opening quarter, three times in the second, and once in the third. Three of his goals were assisted by freshman Brendan Herbert, who turned in an eight-point performance with three scores and five assists.
Sophomore Chas Dean also recorded a hat trick while senior Bobby Ojascstro and sophomore Trip Gaston contributed two goals apiece. Freshmen Ryan Dousevicz and Mario Florio scored their first career goals and sophomore Bode Rubright tacked on one of his own.
Three goalies saw action for the home team. Sophomore Andrew Widlar had a save in the first 30 minutes of play and earned the victory. Freshman Jacob Lipson stopped eight of nine shots on goal in 26 minutes and sophomore Kyle Joyce made a pair of saves in the last four.
Lake Forest led 7-0 after the first quarter and 14-1 at halftime. The Foresters accounted for three of the game's four scores in the third quarter and both tallies in the fourth.
Six of Lake Forest's first seven games this season will be played at home with the next coming on Wednesday against Concordia University Chicago. The contest is slated to begin at 3:00 p.m.
