The Forester men's lacrosse team was defeated 20-9 at Hope College on Saturday.

Freshman Ryan Dousevicz accounted for a third of the Foresters' goals and added an assist for a season-high four points. It was his second hat trick of the year. Dousevicz stopped a 4-0 Flying Dutchmen run to open the game and fellow freshman Brant Schuckman scored for the second time this spring, making it a 4-2 game with 1:57 to play in the opening quarter. Hope responded with a goal just seven seconds later and added two more tallies in the final 15 seconds of the period to make the score 7-2 after 15 minutes of play.

Lake Forest was outscored 5-3 in the second and the visitors' goals came from senior Bobby Ojascastro, Dousevicz, and junior John Casey.

Dousevicz completed the hat trick and raised his season goal total to 13 in the third. Hope, however, scored the period's other five goals and led 17-6 going into the fourth.

The teams traded goals in the final 15 minutes with Lake Forest sophomore Trip Gaston scoring his 15th of the year, Ojascastro his 11th, and Casey his team-leading 23rd.

Lake Forest freshman John O'Reilly won 13 of 24 faceoffs and registered 10 ground balls to match the highest single-game total by a Forester since the program's rebirth last season.

Freshman Simon Colby led the visitors with three caused turnovers.

Forester senior Andrew Widlar and freshman Jacob Lipson combined to make 17 saves in the contest.

The loss dropped Lake Forest's record on the season to 6-4 while Hope evened its mark at 4-4

The Foresters will begin Midwest Lacrosse Conference play against visiting Northland College next Saturday at noon. The Parents Day game will be played on Farwell Field.
