Lake Forest swimming and diving dominated the four-team Gene Davis Invite hosted by Lawrence University on Saturday. Both the men's and women's teams won their respective competitions handily. The women topped the standings with 784 points and the men with 689.
The Foresters began the meet by sweeping the 200-medley relays. Seniors Helena Blumenau and Violet Anderson combined with freshmen Amelie Andres and Megan Dodrill to stop the clock first in a time of 1:55.55, almost seven seconds faster than their closest competitor. Touching first on the men's side were sophomores Noah McAdam and Ben Jacob with freshmen Andrew Lee and Alexander Wilson. They won their event in a time of 1:41.28.
Lake Forest went on to win another 23 events in the meet. Blumenau, Jacob, and McAdam were first every event they were entered in.
Along with the 200-freestyle relay, Blumenau placed first in the 200-individual medley with a time of 2:15.79 and the 200-backstroke with a 2:12.64. She combined with Dodrill again for the 400-freestyle relay, along with sophomore Capri Kalvelage and freshman Valeria Welk.
Jacob touched the wall first in the 500-freestyle with a 4:59.33 and was also the top performer in the 200-butterfly with a final time of 2:02.35. He was joined by juniors Riley Komp and Ollie Land and freshman Barrett Coffey to win the 200-freestyle relay.
McAdam swept the men's backstroke events, placing first in the 100- and 200-backstroke with times of 55:59 and 2:03.93, respectively. He was also on the winning 400-freestyle relay, combining with Wilson again and with senior Justin Fugiel and freshman Demetri Zemenides.
Lake Forest travels to Monmouth College next Saturday, November 19 at 1 p.m.
