The Lake Forest women's swimming and diving team won the Carthage Classic Invitational on Saturday, while the men's team finished third overall.
Throughout the two-day meet, there were multiple rewrites of the program's top five times for both the men and the women.
The women's 400-medley relay—comprised of seniors Helena Blumenau and Violet Anderson and freshmen Amelie Andres and Valeria Welk—finished first overall in their event; their time of 3:58.49 puts them fifth on the team's all-time list. Blumenau, Andres, and Welk were joined by junior Ally McCarthy to win the 800-freestyle relay with a time of 7:56.68, which also ranks fifth overall in team annals.
Andres went on to rewrite the top five times in both breaststroke events. Her time in the 100-breaststroke (1:07.68) puts her fifth overall in team history, and her 2:27.14 in the 200 puts third on the top times list. She finished second at the meet in both events.
Blumenau won the women's 1650-freestyle and added two new entries to the team's history books with her swim. Her time in the first 1000 of her mile (10:35.38) and her final time in the event (17:29.27) puts her second all-time in team history in both events.
Sophomore Noah McAdam added his name to the team's history on the men's side. His winning time of 52.15 in the 100-backstroke puts him fifth all-time. He is also now fifth overall in the 200-backstroke with a time of 1:54.84, a time which placed him second at the meet.
The Foresters will compete again at the Illinois-Michigan Quadrangular at Kalamazoo College on Saturday, January 14.
