The Forester men's hockey team was defeated 5-2 at the University of Wisconsin-Stout Friday night.
Lake Forest had a 38-20 edge in shots on goal on the night but never led.
The Blue Devils started the scoring just 63 seconds into the contest but the Foresters tied the game just 68 seconds later on the first collegiate goal for sophomore forward Qaritaq Kusugak-Clark. He took a pass from freshman forward Philip Quetell between the circles and fired a shot just inside the left post.
The score remained 1-1 until Stout regained the advantage at the 1:32 mark of the second period. After the home team added to its lead at 7:16, Lake Forest sophomore defenseman Matteas Derraugh brought the visitors back to within one just 77 seconds later. He gained control of a loose puck, and tucked a shot from the middle of the left circle just inside the right post for his second score of the season.
The Blue Devils, however, restored their two-goal advantage two minutes later and found the empty net with 2:37 remaining in the contest to account for the final score.
The loss dropped the Foresters' record on the season to 2-3-1 while Stout improved to 5-0-0.
The same two teams will face off again in Menomonie, Wisconsin, Saturday night at 7:00.
