The Forester women's hockey team was defeated 4-0 at home Friday night by Adrian College, the fifth-ranked team in the nation.
The visitors took the lead on a power play goal with just six seconds to play in the opening period. The Bulldogs were 1-for-3 and the Foresters 0-for-4 on the power play in the game.
Adrian broke the game open in the second, adding to its lead at the 7:07 mark and again at 10:24.
The final score of the night came midway through the third period.
Adrian had a 48-27 advantage in shots on goal, including a 19-6 edge in the final period. Lake Forest senior goaltender Hannah Turnage stopped 44 of those attempts, surpassing the 40-save mark for the sixth time this season.
The loss dropped the Foresters' overall record to 8-7-3 and Northern Collegiate Hockey Association mark to 3-4-2. Adrian improved to 17-1-0 overall and 9-0-0 in the league.
The same two teams will face off again in Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse Saturday afternoon at 2:30. It will be Lake Forest's Alumni Day and the program's Ry McCarthy Award will be presented between the first two periods.
