The Forester women's hockey team was defeated 2-1 Friday night at St. Norbert College, the 15th-ranked team in the nation.
After a scoreless opening period, Lake Forest pulled ahead at 5:26 in the second on freshman defenseman Holly Kiernan's first career goal. Her straight-away shot from just inside the blue line snuck under the goalie and into the net. Junior forward Danielle Selby's pass back to Kiernan set up the score and freshman forward Zara Post was also credited with an assist on the play.
The Foresters appeared on their way to victory when the Green Knights struck to tie the game at the 13:46 mark of the third period. The home team then netted what proved to be the game-winner with 3:45 on the clock.
Lake Forest was out-shot 36-20 on the night.
Forester senior goaltender Hannah Turnage made 34 saves in the contest to raise her save percentage on the year to .940.
Lake Forest fell to 8-6-2 overall and 3-2-2 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play while first-place St. Norbert improved to 13-3-2 overall and 9-0-0 in the league.
