Lake Forest College Director of Athletics Nicki Pieart recently announced that Athletic Facilities Assistant Monse Figueroa will transition to a new role within the department and will now serve as the F.A.N. Club and Athletic Programming Coordinator.
Figueroa joined the staff in November of 2020 and, in the last two years, assisted with operations in each of the College's athletic venues, supervised student workers, supported the department's webcasting efforts, coordinated the department's equipment services, while also serving as the game-day administrator for numerous teams. She has also played key roles in the administration of the College's Intramural Sports Program and assisted in the Community Recreation Program operations.
At the end of June, Figueroa represented Forester Athletics at the annual Division III Institute of Administrative Advancement, a partnership between the NCAA and the Minority Opportunities Athletic Association. The institute provides professional development and networking opportunities to administrators from under-represented populations in Division III athletics.
In her new position Monse will be heavily involved with the Forester Athletic Network, the College's athletic booster club, and will provide administrative support in the day-to-day operations of the Forester Athletic Department.
Before coming to Lake Forest, Figueroa earned a master's degree in sport management from Western Illinois University in Macomb. As a graduate assistant in the school's Campus Recreation Department, she directed sport clubs and supervised student workers in the school's intramural program. She has also served as a corporate events intern at the Chicago Sport and Social Club, medical intern at Sanford USD Medical Center (Sioux Falls, S.D.), and adaptive sports and fitness intern at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago.
A 2017 graduate of Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa, Figueroa was a four-year member of the softball team and an all-conference selection.
"I have enjoyed my role in the Athletic Department and working with the staff and students here at the College the last couple of years," began Figueroa. "I also look forward to learning all the ins and outs of a new position and making contributions to Forester Athletics in a different way."
"Monse has been an integral part of our facilities and events team for the past two years," commented Director of Athletics Nicki Pieart. "Her energy, attention to detail and ability to manage a diverse set of responsibilities will all serve her well in this new role. I look forward to Monse's forthcoming transition and working with her in this new capacity."
Figueroa will gradually transition to her new role this fall.
