The Lake Forest College women's lacrosse team hosted and defeated Wartburg College 23-6 on Sunday in the Foresters' first Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference game of the season.

Junior Ryleigh Nelson nearly matched Wartburg's scoring on her own, netting a career-high five goals. She has now scored nine times on the season.

Lake Forest sophomores Savannah Frauhiger and Jenna Doctor added three goals apiece while junior Ali Graham and freshman Emma Sharp each scored twice while also assisting on a pair of scores. Sophomore Krissy Kuwahara and freshman Shannon Gibbons also had a pair of tallies and single goals came from sophomores Cass Barbera and Abby Meyer, senior Emma Tryder, and junior Lila Beckwith.

Graham, Gibbons, and Kuwahara shared team-high honors with five ground balls apiece. Graham also led the squad with six caused turnovers and Kuwahara with the same number of draw controls.

The Foresters outshot their guests 51-9, had a 20-10 advantage in draw controls, and were 7-for-9 on free position shots.

Lake Forest sophomore goalie Calliope Saban played the first three quarters and freshman Cecilia Adams the fourth.

The victory raised the Foresters' overall record on the season to 2-6 while Wartburg fell to 2-7 overall and 1-1 in the MWLC.

Lake Forest will continue league play at Monmouth College on Tuesday. The game will begin at 7:00 p.m.
