Wei Chenh Appointed as Foresters' Head Women's Lacrosse Coach

Wei Chenh Appointed as Foresters' Head Women's Lacrosse Coach

After helping lead Lake Forest College to a Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference championship last year, the program's first season as a varsity sport, Wei Chenh will serve as the Foresters' interim head coach in 2022-23. She replaces Maggie Zentgraf, who recently became the head coach at Butler University.

Chenh assisted Zentgraf in all aspects of the program in 2021-22. She spearheaded the training of Forester goalie and MWLC Defensive Player of the Year Calliope Saban as well as coordination, speed, and agility training for the entire team. The Foresters posted an overall record of 11-4 and prevailed in all five of their Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference games to capture the league title. They also advanced to the final of the MWLC Tournament before falling in overtime.

In addition to coaching at the College, Chenh has also served as the Director of Event Operations and Equipment and Midwest Select Head Coach at Lakeshore Lacrosse and has been with the organization since 2012. Under Chenh's direction, the club's top team won approximately 75 percent of its games. Her coaching experience also includes four seasons (2018-21) as the varsity head coach at Latin School of Chicago and four years as an assistant coach at Robert Morris University, where she helped the Eagles capture the 2014 National Women's Lacrosse League championship.

A graduate of Lane Tech High School and Lindenwood University, Chenh was an All-State selection and three-time team MVP in high school and led her college team in scoring as a freshman.

"Developing the program with Coach Zentgraf over the last year has been rewarding and I'm excited to take it over for the upcoming season," began Chenh. "With a great foundation of returning players and the addition of several freshman, we will be even better next spring."

"Wei was an integral part of our women's lacrosse team's successful and exciting inaugural season," commented Lake Forest College Director of Athletics Nicki Pieart. "We are extremely fortunate to have someone of her caliber to step in and lead the program as we strive for even greater accomplishments in 2023 and beyond."

Chenh will begin her tenure as head coach on August 18.
