Forester Athletes of the Week: April 25

Forester Athletes of the Week: April 25

Daniel Tulchinskiy of men's tennis and Ryleigh Nelson of women's lacrosse were named Forester Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.

In Saturday's doubleheader against Lawrence University and Ripon College, Tulchinskiy won every game at the #2 singles position. The sophomore defeated Lawrence 6-0, 6-0 and then Ripon 6-0, 6-0. He also played the #1 doubles position with senior Oleksyi Vyshyvanyuk and again won both matches: 8-2 against Lawrence then 8-1 against Ripon. In total, Tulchinskiy was an impressive 40 games won to only 3 lost on the day.

In their conference game against Augsburg University, Nelson led the Forseters with five goals, which matched her career high. She also added five ground balls, two caused turnovers, and six draw controls; her eight points on the day set a new program record. The junior came out strong against University of Wisconsin-River Falls on Saturday with three draw controls, two goals out of five shots, and two ground balls.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by a vote of athletic department staff on Tuesdays. Tulchinskiy and Nelson both earned the honor once before. Tulchinskiy was named athlete of the week last season on April 19, 2022; Nelson earned the distinction a few weeks ago on April 4.
