The Forester men's basketball team was defeated 78-67 at the University of Chicago Thursday night.
Lake Forest trailed 39-30 at the half but closed to within two at 40-38 and again at 46-44. The Maroons, however, scored the game's next 13 points and maintained a double digit lead the rest of the way.
Freshman forward Noah Deitch knocked down five three-pointers and led the visitors with 19 points. Senior forward Frank Siegien, junior guard Rocco Ronzio, and freshman guard Elijah Bull were next on the team with eight points apiece. Bull dished out a game-high eight assists while sophomore forward Michael Michaud led Lake Forest with six rebounds.
Chicago shot 57 percent from the floor while the Foresters connected on just 39 percent of field goal attempts. The home team also had a 40-29 edge in rebounds while Lake Forest took better care of the ball, committing just six turnovers to the Maroons' 12.
The loss dropped the Foresters' record to 0-2 on the young season. It was the first game of the year for Chicago.
Lake Forest will play its home home opener against Benedictine University next Tuesday night at 7:30.
