The Lake Forest College men's basketball team posted its highest single-game shooting percentage in more than 13 years in a 95-55 rout at Beloit College.
The Foresters connected on 40 of 58 field goal attempts and their .690 field goal percentage was the program's highest mark since the team shot 74.4 percent at Grinnell College on January 5, 2010.
Sophomore guard Alex Knight led the visitors with 20 points and was 9-for-13 from the floor. Freshman forward Noah Deitch was next with 18 points and he shot 7-for-8 overall and 4-for-5 from three-point range. Senior wing Johnny Roeser, senior forward Frank Siegien, and sophomore guard Gary Ekmekjian finished with 13, 12, and 9 points, respectively, and were 15-for-18 combined. Roeser also led all players in the contest with six rebounds and tied Knight for game-high honors with four assists.
Lake Forest made its first 10 field goal attempts and jumped out to a 22-3 lead. Beloit closed to within 12 but got no closer and the halftime score was 45-34.
After shooting 70.4 percent in the first half, the Foresters dipped to just 67.7 percent while scoring 50 points during the final 20 minutes. An 18-3 run made it a 40-point game and the margin grew to as many as 43.
The margin of victory was the largest for Lake Forest since December of 1989 and the sixth-highest mark in program history.
The Foresters are now 10-11 overall and tied-for-fourth place in the Midwest Conference at 7-5 in league play. Beloit fell to 5-16 overall and 2-11 in the conference.
Lake Forest will travel to Lawrence University on Wednesday with the game scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
