Foresters Finish Up Indoor Season at MWC Championships

The Lake Forest College track team added to its point total on Saturday, the second and final day of the 2023 Midwest Conference Indoor Championship Meet.

Freshman AJ Jones earned three points for the Foresters in the finals of the 60m, finishing sixth in 8.29 seconds. She also placed 12th in the 200m with a time of 28.09 seconds.

Junior Rayan Khalid was 19th in the men's 200m and his season-best time of 24.52 seconds improved his standing as the program's fifth-fastest athlete to run the event indoors.

Freshman Ido Zimbelman led four Forester men in the 400m with a time of 57.60 seconds while classmate Julie Dorner's clocking of 2:50..28 was the fastest of four women on the team in the 800m. Senior Lionel Whitehead was 15th out of 27 competitors in the men's 800m with a career-best time of 2:10.43.

Lake Forest's best relay placing of the weekend came in the women's distance medley, where junior Becca Ray, freshmen Jacquelyn Han and Rawya Mechta, and sophomore Delfina Jorgensen finished fifth in 14:35.68. The men's distance medley relay (Whitehead, senior Joe Maret, freshman Marcelo Camba, senior Julian Cano) was seventh with a time of 12:18.50.

The Foresters will begin the outdoor season at the ONU Outdoor Open, hosted by Olivet Nazarene University, on April 1.
