The Lake Forest College women's basketball team scored 47 points in the second half and prevailed 83-64 Tuesday night at Mount Mary University.
Forester senior guard Katie Neher nearly recorded the first triple-double in program history, finishing with 29 points, 14 rebounds, and 8 assists. She also recorded five steals and blocked a shot.
Senior forward Annie Lally shot 9-for-11 from the field and was next on the team with 19 points and 7 boards.
Junior guard Maurissa Edwards actually led the visitors in assists with nine, matching the sixth-highest single-game total in school history. Lake Forest finished the night with 29 assists as a team, the program's fourth-highest mark.
The Foresters shot 45 percent from the field and limited the Blue Angels to 41 percent. The visitors also had a commanding 50-36 edge in rebounds and committed five fewer turnovers (17-22).
Neither team led by more than four points in the first quarter and were tied as 12 when it ended. Lake Forest was ahead by as many as nine in the second and took a 36-28 lead into the locker room at halftime.
The Blue Angels closed to within three points in the third before a 14-2 run by the Foresters extended their lead to double figures. Neher's tip-in in the final minute finished off her 10-point quarter and made the score 62-49 going into the fourth. The closest the home team got during the final period was 11 points but Lake Forest outscored the hosts 12-4 the rest of the way.
The non-conference victory improved the Foresters' overall record to 6-13 while Mount Mary fell to 6-15.
Lake Forest will resume league play at Beloit College Saturday afternoon at 1:00.
