The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced its 2016 Academic Awards on Thursday and Foresters Grace Dowling, Christi Valicenti, and John Snider were among the honorees.
More than 4,200 scholar-athletes were recognized across all divisions.
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters (including freshman through senior year).
Dowling, Valicenti, and Snider graduated from Lake Forest in May. Valicenti and Dowling rank first and second, respectively, in program history in career wins while Snider is third in that category on the men's side. The three players combined for 406 victories in their four years at the College.
Snider also earned ITA Scholar-Athlete distinction as a freshman and was named Academic All-Midwest Conference following three of his four seasons. Dowling and Valicenti are each two-time Academic All-MWC honorees.
