The Forester women's hockey team, ranked third in the nation, will play at #8 Middlebury on Tuesday, January 5, at 7:00 p.m. (ET).
Lake Forest's current ranking is the highest in program history and, at 10-0-1, the Foresters are one of just four teams in the country without a loss. They lead the nation in scoring offense (5.64 goals per game), scoring margin (4.82 goals per game), and power play percentage (41.0). With a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association record of 8-0-0, Lake Forest leads Adrian College by a game in the standings. The Foresters earned the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament each of the last two seasons.
Middlebury enters the game with an overall mark of 4-2-1 and trails #6 Amherst College by a half-game in the New England Small College Athletic Conference with a league record of 3-0-1. The Panthers have qualified for 12 of the last 14 NCAA Division III Tournament and have three national championships to their credit.
Tuesday night's contest will be played at Chip Kenyon '85 Arena in Middlebury, Vermont (Directions to Campus), and there is no charge for admission. Live Stats and a Live Video Webcast will also be available.
Lake Forest will conclude its trip with a game at St. Michael's College Wednesday night at 7:00 (ET). The team's next home games are January 9-10 against St. Mary's University.
In other Forester action, the basketball teams started 2016 successfully with a sweep of Monmouth College. Five Lake Forest men scored in double figures as the team prevailed 82-63 while the women came through in the closing minutes to win 69-64. Both squads are 3-2 in Midwest Conference play and will travel to Beloit College on Wednesday, January 6, and Illinois College on Saturday, January 9.
The Forester men's hockey team (5-6-0, 3-5-0 NCHA) will begin 2016 with a home-and-home series with rival Milwaukee School of Engineering January 8-9. The teams will face off in Lake Forest at 7:00 Friday night, 50 years to the day after the first varsity game in program history. Saturday's game at MSOE will start at 5:00 p.m.
The swimming and diving teams will spend the first week of the new year in sunny southern California. The program's annual training trip will include a competition at Soka University.
The College will also host the Men's Invitational Handball Tournament on Saturday, January 9.
