Lake Forest College, a member of the prestigious Associated Colleges of the Midwest, will send its athletic teams to compete against other member of the organization in the next two weeks. The ACM Soccer Showcase will be held in the twin cities this weekend and the ACM Volleyball Invitational Tournament will be hosted by Grinnell College next Saturday and Sunday.
"ACM competition provides a great venue to showcase the talents and abilities of our student-athletes beyond the classroom," began Lake Forest College Direstor of Athletics Jackie Slaats. "It also helps bring recognition to our highly respected consortium of institutions that share similar academic and athletic goals."
The Forester women's soccer team will begin play at the 2014 ACM Soccer Showcase against Coe College Friday afternoon at 2:00. The game will be played at Macalester College, which will also host Lake Forest Sunday at 11:30 a.m. The Foresters are 2-0-0 so far this season after edging out Concordia University Wisconsin 2-1 on Saturday and Carthage College 3-2 on Tuesday.
On the men's side, Lake Forest will play at the University of St. Thomas Friday at 4:30 p.m. and at Macalester College Sunday afternoon at 2:00. The Foresters are 1-1-0 this year after defeating Willamette University 2-1 in double overtime on Friday and falling 5-2 to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on Sunday.

Lake Forest will make the trip to Grinnell, Iowa, next weekend for the 2014 ACM Volleyball Invitational Tournament. The Foresters will take on Carleton College at 2:00 Saturday afternoon and Grinnell at 4:00. Sunday's opponents are Luther College at 9:00 a.m. and Macalester at 11:00. Lake Forest split its four matches at last year's event, which was hosted by Luther.
The ACM is a consortium of academically excellent, independent liberal arts colleges located in Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Colorado. The 14 members are Beloit College, Carleton College, Coe College, Colorado College, Cornell College, Grinnell College, Knox College, Lake Forest College, Lawrence University, Luther College, Macalester College, Monmouth College, Ripon College, and St. Olaf College.
