Women's basketball player Sam Schuring was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday after scoring a career-high 22 points in a 70-59 victory at Grinnell College on Saturday.
Schuring, a sophomore guard, also pulled down six rebounds and dished out a game-high five assists while leading all players in the contest in scoring. She scored 14 of her points in the second half, helping to fight off a comeback effort by the Pioneers.
It was the third game in a row and fifth time this season that Schuring led Lake Forest is points. She is now averaging a team-high 12.1 points per game and also leads the squad in assists and steals. Her assist-to-turnover ratio is the highest in the Midwest Conference and she is tied for the league lead in assists.
Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. She also earned the award on January 13 and was named MWC Player of the Week on Monday.
