On Friday, March 22, the Lake Forest College softball team added a new member to their team through the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation. Mia Gurevitz was given her own locker in the softball team locker room, her own bat and glove and a Forester hat.
The Friends of Jaclyn Organization improves the quality of life
for children with pediatric brain tumors and their families by
pairing them with college and high school athletic teams. The FoJ
program has grown incredibly to over 300 children who have been
adopted by high school and college teams across the country. To

Senior Nikki Miller, who was instrumental in the partnership with
the Friends of Jaclyn Organization, was excited about Mia's
adoption.
"The FOJ adoption of Mia was great on Friday," Miller said. "Mia
and her sister (Rachel) had a blast playing with the glove and bat
and her parents and grandma enjoyed visiting with us all. We
as a softball team feel very lucky to have the Gurevitz family in
not only our Forester family, but part of our personal lives as
well. We can't wait until Monday for our first home game with
them and then Tuesday for our FOJ fundraiser!"
In addition, the softball team is hosting a home run derby to
raise funds for Friends of Jaclyn when the Foresters host the
University of Chicago on Thursday, April 4th, 2013 at 3 and 5 p.m.
The home run derby will take place immediately following the second
game at the softball field. The University of Chicago also has a
Friends of Jaclyn adoptee on their team and will be recognized in
between games with Mia.
The Forester football team also adopted a Friends of Jaclyn member
in Benny Watters, who made a significant impact on the team. For
