Women's soccer and hockey player Michelle Greeneway was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday after scoring four times in each sport in the previous seven days.
Greeneway, a senior forward in both sports, led the Lake Forest College women's soccer team to a 5-4 victory over visiting St. Norbert College on Sunday in a game that decided the 2015 Midwest Conference Champion. She scored the first goal of the contest in the 22nd minute, knotted the game at two on a penalty kick early in the second half, tied the game again at four on a header with 5:50 remaining, and kicked in the game-winner with 2:07 on the clock.
The Forester women's hockey team started its season against St. Catherine University the night before and Greeneway netted the squad's first goal just 72 seconds into the contest. She also assisted on a score less than two-and-a-half minutes later in the 5-0 victory. Lake Forest hosted St. Catherine again Sunday afternoon and, approximately two hours after her game-winning goal on the soccer field, she scored to give the hockey team a 1-0 lead early in the second period. The teams eventually skated to a 2-2 tie.
Greeneway closed out her week with the hockey team's Northern Collegiate Hockey Association opener at Marian University Wednesday night. Greeneway scored a pair of goals in the 7-0 triumph, giving her a team-high four on the young season.
Lake Forest's career goals leader in both sports, Greeneway has now scored 178 times as a Forester. Her 104 scores on the soccer field rank tied-for-13th in NCAA Division III history and she began the hockey season ranked 27th in NCAA Division III annals with 70 scores.
Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. It was the second time she has earned the award for her exploits in both sports during the same week and her 11th such honor overall.
