The Northern Collegiate Hockey Association released the 2014-15 NCHA All-Academic Teams on Thursday and Lake Forest College was well-represented with six men and six women on the lists.
To earn NCHA All-Academic Team status, a student must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30 and be a sophomore, junior, or senior.
A dozen men's players in the league earned the honor for the third time, including Lake Forest College senior forwards Bobby Barrett, Jason McAloon, and Luke Swardenski. Junior goaltender and 2015 NCHA Player of the Year Leo Podolsky was named to the league's All-Academic Team for the second straight season while two more forward, classmate Ian Pichel and sophomore Jimmy Cusan, were first time honorees.
On the women's side, senior defenseman Erin Shamley as well as junior forward Michelle Greeneway and defenseman Alex Stensland made the list for the second year in a row. Greeneway and Stensland were also members of the All-NCHA Team announced last month. They were joined by sophomore forward Isabel Regine and both of the Foresters' goaltenders, junior Allie Carter and sophomore Casey Hartfiel.
The six All-Academic Team selections are the most in Forester women's hockey history, surpassing the previous high of four.
