Lake Forest College Director of Athletics Jackie Slaats announced that, beginning on Saturday, January 14, live video webcasts of all Forester home hockey games will be available at nmtvsports.com.
Hockey is the College's fifth sport to be webcast on a regular basis, joining football, volleyball, and soccer in the fall and basketball in the winter. Lake Forest also provided video webcasts of the 2010 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association O'Brien Cup Tournament as well as the 2008 and 2010 Midwest Conference Softball Championship Tournaments.
"We are excited for the opportunity to bring Forester hockey to more of our loyal fans," began Slaats. "Hockey players come to Lake Forest from all over the continent so followers of our teams are often unable to attend games in person. Recent enhancements to Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse and extra efforts by our staff have made it possible to add hockey to our webcast lineup and I am proud to be able to share Forester hockey action with our parents, alumin, and other fans, no matter where they are come gametime."
The first women's hockey game on the webcast schedule is Saturday afternoon's 2:00 face-off with #7 UW-River Falls. The first men's game will be later that night (7:00) against Northland College.
Forester Athletic Hall of Famer T.R. Bell, a four-year hockey player and former assistant coach of the men's team as well as the first head coach of the varsity women's program, will provide play-by-play for both games on Saturday. Another former player, Adam Love, will join him for the men's game. Announcing duties will then be turned over to current students for the rest of the season, beginning on Sunday.
