Travis Clark grew up in Evanston, Illinois, and attended Evanston Township High School, where he helped lead the boys basketball team to a third-place finish in the Illinois High School Association 4A State Tournament.
Clark entered Lake Forest College in 2008 and became one of the most accomplished players in the history of the men’s basketball program. He set school records with 659 career field goals made, 101 blocked shots, and a .648 field goal percentage. He led the team in points and rebounds all four years and posted 33 double-doubles. Clark’s 1,493 career points were the most by a Forester in more than four decades and only one player during that span finished with more than his 804 rebounds. He led the Midwest Conference and ranked among the top five in the nation in field goal percentage three times and graduated with the 14th-highest mark in NCAA Division III history. A versatile player, Clark finished in the top 10 in the league in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocked shots as a junior and nearly repeated the feat the following year, ranking in the top five in four of those categories and 11th in assists. After being named Honorable Mention All-MWC as a freshman, he earned First Team status each of the next three seasons and MWC Player of the Year accolades after leading Lake Forest to a 20-4 record and a conference championship as a senior. Clark garnered all-region recognition from D3hoops.com twice and closed out his career with a Second Team All-American distinction from the National Association of Basketball Coaches, who also selected him to play in the 2012 NABC Reese's Division III College All-Star Game.
After graduating from Lake Forest with a degree in business, Clark played basketball professionally in Germany. He later began a career in finance and coached at the high school level.
