Lake Forest College women's hockey player Lexi Morgan was named Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday for her performance in the team's series with visiting College of St. Scholastica over the weekend.
Morgan, a freshman forward, scored in the second period of the Foresters' 4-1 victory over the Saints on Friday. The power play goal tied the game at one.
Lake Forest and St. Scholastica skated to a 4-4 tie on Saturday. The home team trailed 3-1 in the second period when Morgan assisted on one of two goals in the contest by senior Allie Girard. Morgan then tied the game at the 7:58 mark of the third period on her second power play goal of the weekend and seventh score of the season overall. Morgan assisted Girard again less than a minute later to give the Foresters a lead they were unable to maintain.
Morgan's career-high three points on Saturday gave her 14 in as many games this season. She is one of just eight freshmen in the nation averaging at least a point per contest.
NCHA Players of the Week are selected by the league's directors of public relations and sports information. Morgan is the third Forester to earn one of the league's weekly honors this season.
