Freshman goaltender Jacque Rogers posted her first career shutout in the Forester women's hockey team's 4-0 triumph at Saint Mary's University on Friday.
Rogers made seven saves in each of the first two periods and five in the third to improve to 5-1-0 with a 1.48 goals against average on the year.
Senior forward Isabel Regine started the scoring with 4:23 to play in the opening period. Her fifth goal of the season and first career game-winner was assisted by junior forward Olivia Spellmire.
The visitors doubled their lead at the 8:41 mark of the second period on senior defenseman Kayla Griffith's fifth score of the year. Senior forward Allie Girard and freshman forward Lexi Morgan set up the score. Morgan added to the Foresters' advantage with a power play goal with four minutes remaining in the period. Spellmire and junior forward Amanda Brunges earned assists as Morgan matched Regine and Griffith with her fifth goal of the year.
Spellmire closed out the scoring at the 4:22 mark of the third period. Brunges assisted on the goal, Spellmire's 10th of the season.
After putting just seven shots on goal in the first period, Lake Forest totaled 29 in the game's final 40 minutes.
The Foresters, who are ranked seventh in the nation in this week's USCHO.com Poll, improved to 11-2-0 on the season while Saint Mary's fell to 4-7-1. The same two teams will face off again at 2:00 Saturday afternoon.
