Lake Forest College's Allie Carter was named Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday for her performance in a pair of victories at the College of St. Scholastica over the weekend.
Carter, a senior goaltender, stopped 19 of 20 shots on goal in the Foresters' 2-1 triumph on Friday. She made eight saves in the opening period, seven in the second, and four in the third.
Lake Forest played another close game on Saturday, scoring an empty net goal late in the contest to win 3-1. Carter blanked the Saints through two periods again and made six of her 15 saves on the day in the third.
At 10-1-0 this season, Carter is tied for fourth in the nation in winning percentage. She also ranks second in the country with a 0.82 goals against average and seventh with a .956 save percentage. All three marks would be single-season school records.
NCHA Players of the Week are selected by the league's directors of sports information and public relations. Carter also earned the award on November 10 and once last season.
