Lake Forest College women's hockey players Michelle Greeneway, Kayla Griffith, and Allie Carter were named to the D3hockey.com Team of the Week on Tuesday. In addition, Greeneway and Griffith earned Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors, respectively.
Greeneway, a senior forward, scored a pair of goals in the Foresters' 4-1 victory at St. Norbert College on Saturday. Her power play goal 57 seconds into the contest was the only tally of the opening period and she scored again at 12:39 in the second to make the score 3-0. Greeneway leads the nation with 11 goals this season and now ranks tied-for-12th in NCAA Division III women's hockey history with 81 career scores.
Griffith, a sophomore defenseman, assisted on both of Greeneway's goals on Saturday and added a power play score of her own at 6:46 in the second period. It was her second career three-point game and first official game-winner. With three goals and eight assists this year, Griffith is already within one point of her 2014-15 season total.
Carter, a senior goaltender, surrendered just one goal in each of the team's victories last week. She made a season-high 26 saves in a 4-1 triumph at Concordia University Wisconsin on Tuesday and stopped 15 of 16 shots on goal at St. Norbert on Saturday. Carter is 6-0-0 with a 0.67 goals against average and .962 save percentage this season.
The NCHA Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week are selected by the league's directors of sports information and public relations. Greeneway earned NCHA Offensive Player of the Week honors three times over the last two seasons and was named NCHA Player of the Week once as a freshman. Carter was also the NCHA Defensive Player of the Week on November 10 and once last season.
The D3hockey.com Team of the Week includes six forwards, four defensemen, and a pair of goaltenders divided into a First Team and a Second Team. All three Foresters were First Team selections.
