The Forester women's hockey team hosted and defeated St. Catherine University 5-0 Saturday night. Lake Forest sophomore defenseman Kayla Griffith matched her goal total from all of last year with two scores in the contest.
Griffith scored an unassisted goal with 1:32 to play in the second period to make the score 4-0 and added her fourth career tally with just 17.7 seconds remaining in the contest. Senior forward Natalie Pattison assisted on the final goal of the game.
Lake Forest began the game with a flurry, taking the lead just 72 seconds into the contest on senior forward Michelle Greeneway's 71st career goal. She was assisted by fellow senior forward Holly Lesperance, who then lit the lamp at the 3:38 mark with Greeneway picking up the assist. Greeneway is now alone atop the program's career points list with 107 after entering the night tied with Kim Herring (2008-12) at 105. The home team added a third score while on the power play at 7:02. Junior forward Allie Girard and freshman forward Amy Budde assisted senoir forward Melissa Paluch on the play. Paluch is now tied with Jessica Dare (2008-12) for seventh in team history with 38 career goals.
The Foresters outshot St. Catherine 49-12 on the night.
Lake Forest senior goaltender Allie Carter made half of her 12 saves in the final period and posted her second career shutout.
The teams will face off again Sunday afternoon at 3:00.
