The Lake Forest College women's hockey team was defeated 6-2 by visiting Concordia University Wisconsin on Saturday, one day after blanking the Falcons 4-0 in Mequon.
The home team got on the scoreboard first at the 8:26 mark of the opening period on senior Melissa Kravich's fifth goal of the season. She was assisted by sophomore Jenn Caldwell.
Concordia Wisconsin tied the score on a power play goal with 6:13 to play in the period, which ended with the teams tied at one.
The Falcons took the lead at 12:26 in the second period and doubled their advantage just 15 seconds later.
The Foresters appeared primed for a comeback when junior Kim Herring lit the lamp for the third time this season at the 10:10 mark of the third period. Senior Lynn Switaj and sophomore Rosy Fujimoto assisted on the score.
After calling a timeout with five-and-a-half minutes to play in the third, Concordia Wisconsin rattled off three goals in the next two minutes and 40 seconds to put the game out of reach.
Lake Forest fell to 9-5-2 overall and 5-5-2 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play. The Falcons are now 10-8-1 overall and 8-5-1 in the league.
The Foresters will travel to the University of Wisocnsin-Eau Claire next weekend. The teams will face off at 7:00 Friday night and at 2:00 the next afternoon.
