The Forester women's hockey team tied visiting UW-Superior Friday night and is now 8-3-2 overall and 4-3-2 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play this season. Superior is 8-3-3 overall and 7-1-3 in the league.
Lake Forest got on the scoreboard first when freshman Stephanie Slinde scored with 4:43 to play in the opening period. Junior Jessica Dare assisted on Slinde's fourth goal of the season.
The home team doubled its lead at the 8:05 mark of the second period when senior Sam Herron converted a power play opportunity for her fourth goal of the year. Herron was assisted by fellow junior Mira Trebilcock and freshman Sarah Gilbride.
Superior, however, began its comeback with a goal at 17:15 in the second.
The Foresters regained rheir two-goal advantage on another power play goal with just 5:59 to play in regulation. It was senior Lynn Switaj's fifth goal of the season with classmate Melissa Kravich and junior Kim Herring each picking up an assist.
The Yellowjackets pulled back to within a goal at 17:03, pulled their goalie a minute-and-a-half later, and scored the game-tying goal with just 22 seconds on the clock.
Lake Forest outshot the visitors 36-35 in the game and Forester senior goaltender Alyssa Wintermute finished with 32 saves.
The same two teams will face off again tomorrow afternoon at 2:00.
