The Lake Forest College women's hockey team was defeated 3-1 by the University of Wisconsin-Superior at home on Saturday. Senior Lynn Switaj scored the Foresters' only goal on the power play in the second period.
Switaj's score was her sixth of the season, tying her for the team lead. The goal also tied the game at one with 4:38 to play before the second intermission and was was assisted by freshman Stephanie Slinde and sophomore Angie Chronis.
The Yellowjackets regained the lead with just 1:44 to play in the game and clinched the victory with an empty net goal with 16 seconds on the clock.
Forester freshman goaltender Stacey Dierking stopped 33 of the 35 shots on goal she faced and has a .947 save percentage and 1.48 goals against average in four games this season.
Lake Forest fell to 8-4-2 overall and 4-4-2 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play. Superior is now 9-3-3 overall and 8-1-3 in the league.
The Foresters will play a home-and-home series with Concordia University Wisconsin next weekend. The teams will face off in Mequon, Wisconsin, Friday night at 7:30 (live video) and in Lake Forest the following afternoon at 4:00 (live audio).
