The Lake Forest College women's hockey team skated to a 1-1 tie at College of St. Scholastica Saturday afternoon, despite out-shooting the Saints 37-16 in the contest.
The Foresters had a 14-3 edge in shots on goal in the opening period but trailed 1-0 after 20 minutes of play.
Freshman Stephanie Slinde tied the game at the 8:15 mark of the second stanza. Fellow freshman Jackie Friedrich earned her first career point by assisting on Slinde's second goal of the year.
Lake Forest out-shot St. Scholastica 11-8 in the second period, 7-5 in the third, and 5-0 in the five-minute overtime but neither team was able to score.
Forester freshman goaltender Stacey Dierking recorded 15 saves in the contest and is now 1-0-1 on the season with a 0.96 goals against average and .966 save percentage.
Lake Forest is now 5-0-1 overall this season and 1-0-1 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play. The Saints are 1-3-1 overall and 0-2-1 in the league.
The Foresters will continue conference play at UW-River Falls next weekend. The team's will face off at 7:05 Friday night and 2:05 the following afternoon.
