The Forester women's hockey team raised its record on the season to 3-0-0 by defeating St. Olaf College 3-1 at home Saturday night. Lake Forest junior Jessica Dare scored the game-winner and assisted on an insurance goal in the final period.
St. Olaf actually scored first in the contest. After a scoreless opening period, the visitors converted a power play opportunity at the 6:03 mark of the second. It was the only goal allowed by Forester freshman Stacey Dierking, who saved the other 38 shots the Oles put on goal.
Lake Forest tied the game while on the power play with just 46 seconds remaining in the second period. It was junior Mira Trebilcock's first goal of the season.
The game remained tied until the 11:03 mark of the third period when junior Jessica Dare scored for the second time this year. Freshmen Stephanie Slinde and Emily Cornett recorded assists on what turned out to be the official game-winning goal. The home team tacked on an insurance score at 13:47. It was senior Melissa Kravich's first goal of 2010-11 and was assisted by Slinde and Dare.
The same two teams will face off again tomorrow afternoon at 2:00.
