The Lake Forest College women's hockey team hosted a defeated St. Norbert College 3-2 on Sunday. Forester junior Jessica Dare scored a pair of goals in the game to give the home team a split in the weekend series.
Lake Forest never trailed in the contest. After a scoreless opening period, the Foresters got on the scoreboard just one minute and 45 seconds after the first intermission. Freshman Maeve Connelly's second goal of the season was assisted by sophomore Jenn Caldwell.
St. Norbert took advantage of a power play opportunity at the 6:54 mark of the second period and the game remained tied at one into the third.
Junior Mira Trebilcock assisted on Dare's first goal at the 7:04 mark of the third. Trebilcock leads the Foresters with seven assists this year.
After the Green Knights tied the score with 4:08 to play, Dare netted the game-winner just 30 seconds later. The unassisted score was her team-high sixth of the season.
Lake Forest freshman Goaltender Stacey Dierking stopped 19 of 21 shots on goal in the contest, including 11 of 12 in the second period. She is now 2-0-1 with a .949 save percentage and 1.30 goals against average.
St. Norbert fell to 7-7-1 overall and 4-5-0 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play.
The Foresters are now 8-3-1 overall and 4-3-1 in the league. They will continue NCHA play against visiting UW-Superior this weekend. Friday night's game will begin at 7:00 and the teams will face off again at 2:00 Saturday afternoon.
